More about our farm

Scilly Organics has been certified organic since 2004, and started the conversion process in 2002. We are inspected annually by the Soil Association and our licence number is G8208. We are proud to grow organically and trust the certification gives our customers confidence in the quality of our food and benefits of our system of growing.

The farm comprises about 4 acres of veg growing land, including 2 polytunnels and a glasshouse. This is right behind Lawrence’s beach, on the south of St Martin’s.

Veg stall

Our veg stall is on St Martin’s at the top of Middle Town Hill, near the Island Hall.

It’s stocked up Monday to Saturday at midday, and it’s first come, first served! It’s popular and often sold out pretty quick.

We grow a wide range of vegetables here, including salad, potatoes, carrots, courgettes, squash, beetroot, broccoli, caulis, tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, kale and chard.

Also there is fruit including strawberries, apples, peaches and grapes. A few flowers and herbs complement the mix of crops.

Organic is just one part of the environmental sustainability of the business. We have been undertaking a carbon footprint assessment for the last 10 years and have always been carbon negative – that’s to say we sequester far more carbon in biomass and soils than we emit through everything else.

We’re also part of a circular economy pilot, aiming to reduce waste, improve our environmental and social scores, and engage our customers in the process too.
